Alex Garcia from Mex-2-Go: Fresh Flavor in Davenport's Hilltop Campus Village

The growing food truck scene in the Quad Cities has been great for hungry customers, but it can be hard to make a living with a business that only operates 6-8 months of the year. Fortunately for everyone, Alex Garcia has found a permanent home in the Hilltop Campus Village to go along with his Mex-2-Go food truck and catering business.
Located just north of Palmer College on Brady Street, Mex-2-Go opened their drive-through and walk-up location in November, just before the winter we’d all love to forget. Alex says, “the customers we had at first kept coming back” and new people are discovering the business all the time. As the weather warms up, it’s an easy spot for nearby students and employees to grab lunch. One of his best customers has been Town Square Media right across the street. “The radio station has been wonderful,” Alex said.
Alex also serves lunch on weekdays inside the River Cities Business Park in Mount Joy, so Mex-2-Go had a natural fan base among those businesses. Many of the employees who have gotten used to eating his tacos, burritos, or enchiladas on their lunch break have come to visit the Hilltop location to pick up dinner so their families could experience the food as well.
While the building itself might seem small to some, it is roomy compared to a food truck and offers everything needed for Mex-2-Go’s menu. Everything is freshly made to order, so there’s no need for a large amount of storage room. It also serves as the home kitchen for the food truck and catering side of the business.
Whether you’re looking for a quick meal to pick up on a lunch break in downtown or central Davenport, or a place to get a couple big burritos to take home or eat outside at nearby Vander Veer Park, Mex-2-Go seems to have found the perfect spot to serve quick and tasty Mexican meals to their ever-increasing customer base.
