Free Summer Activities in the Quad Cities Area

Don’t know how to spend the rest of your summer in the Quad Cities?  Here is a list of free activities for you and your family to enjoy!

  1. Summer Concerts 

  • Moline Township - Enjoy live music every Monday night at the Moline Township Center.  Music is from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Dance lessons are available for $3 and food baskets are available for $5. Get the band schedule here

  • Murphy Park - Murphy Park, located at The Bend hotel in East Moline, IL offers free, live music every Wednesday night.  Music starts at 7 pm and goes until 10 pm. Food and beverages are available to purchase starting at 6 pm. Get the band schedule on Facebook here

  • Bass Street Landing - Every Thursday night enjoy free, live music from 7-9 pm. Food and beverages are available to purchase.  Bring your lawn chair! Get the band schedule here

  • River House - Every Friday and Saturday night the River House, located in Moline, offers free, live music, 7:00 pm until 11 pm. Food and beverages are available to purchase.  Get the band schedule here

  • Bettendorf Public Library - Outdoor concerts are held at Faye's Field located just south of the Library on 18th St in Bettendorf. These free concerts will take place every Thursday through August 8th at 6:30 pm.  Bring lawn chairs and coolers full of food or drink!

2.  Museums and Libraries 

  • I-74 Virtual Reality Tour - Checkout a headset and controller from the Rock Island Public Library located in downtown Rock Island.  This virtual reality tour allows you to check out the bridge in a unique way. You can find the virtual tour during library hours at the reference desk through September 27th. 

  • Figgie Art Museum - This summer, enjoy free admission dates from July 6-August 11.  Enjoy a variety of free programs, like Dance Me a Story: Exploring Literature Through Ballet, throughout these dates.  Make the Figgie part of your summer fun!

3. Street Fests

  • Mercado on Fifth - Explore the outdoor event every Friday night from 5-10 pm in the Floreciente neighborhood in Moline.  Enjoy cultural entertainment from local artists and musicians and food and merchandise from local vendors!

  • Downtown Davenport Bix Street Fest - The Bix Street Fest, Friday Jul 26-Saturday Jul 27, is located on 2nd Street between Brady & Ripley in the heart of downtown Davenport. Festivities start at 11:00 am and go until midnight. Enjoy great live music, dozens of arts & crafts vendors, and tons of food and drink vendors! You sure don’t want to miss this event!

  • Great River Tug Fest - Join the annual downtown festivities in LeClaire, IA and/or Port Byron, IL with food, arts & crafts, live music, a carnival, fireworks and much more.  This year, festivities are August 8-10. Find the schedule of events here:

4. Farmers Markets 

  • Quad Cities Growers Market - Shop 100% locally grown produce, handcrafted products, and baked goods.  Stop by the East Moline location, located in State City parking lot, on either Wednesdays or Saturdays from 8 am - 2 pm.  Or, stop by the Moline location, SouthPark Mall parking lot, on Saturdays from 8 am- 2 pm!

  • Mississippi Valley Growers Association --  Growing and selling of Mississippi Valley Area farm products, baked goods and locally produced handicrafts.  Stop by the Bettendorf location (2117 State Street) on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 5:30 pm.  If that doesn’t fit your schedule, stop by the Davenport location (Welcome Way and Kimberly Rd) on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 am-Noon. 

  • Freight House Farmers Market - Enjoy local produce, crafts, and baked goods every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.  The Freight House Farmer’s Market is located along the scenic Mississippi Riverfront, anchored by the historic Freight House Building in downtown Davenport, Iowa.  Hours are: Saturday 8am-1pm, Sunday 10-2pm, Wednesday 4-8 pm.
